This month, we’re excited to share Sock Puppet Tea Party: Small Rituals of Becoming, a solo exhibition by ceramic artist and Brick & Mortar Studios owner Lindsay Langsdale.
Blending hand-built ceramics, illustrated underglaze transfers, and original storytelling, the exhibition invites visitors into a whimsical world where tea becomes a ritual for reflection, connection, and transformation. Each handmade tea set is paired with an original story, encouraging viewers to slow down, linger, and discover something familiar within these curious characters.
Lindsay's practice combines sculpture, narrative, and a love of handmade objects. Drawing from storytelling, printmaking, and playful world-building, she creates work that feels both comforting and a little unexpected. Her stories explore themes of belonging, uncertainty, courage, and the quiet rituals that shape our lives.
Throughout the exhibition, you'll meet an unforgettable cast of characters: Angelica Gravlefoot searching for where she belongs, Quigley Blunderdorf discovering that the future is something we create ourselves, Philbert Hinkleberry helping young birds find the courage to take flight, and many more. Together, they remind us that growth rarely happens through grand gestures, but through small acts of kindness, honesty, curiosity, and connection.
In many ways, Sock Puppet Tea Party is an invitation to spend time with stories, to appreciate the objects that accompany our daily rituals, and to embrace the beautiful uncertainty of becoming.
