











Session 4 - Thursday night Glaze Chemistry 101
This is a 6 week course in glaze application, formulation, and testing. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of what is glaze, how to read a recipe, how to combine glazes together wet batch to make new custom glazes, and making a glaze from scratch.
This course is for those who have a curiosity in creating their own glazes and refining application techniques. This is an introduction into glaze chemistry and application. Students do not need any prior chemistry experience.
The first class will meet on Thursday June 12th 6pm-8:30pm and the last class will be on Thursday July 17th.
Course materials: face respirator, gloves, notebook and pencil
Optional materials: towel, eye protection (glasses/goggles), apron, digital scale (this will only be able to be used for glaze)
This class includes:
12LBS of clay and the ability to purchase more
Firing of your pottery in our electric kilns
Glazes and decorating materials
Use of studio tools and equipment
A storage space to keep your work, personal tools and clay on
Access to Open Studio Hours Thursday 10am-2pm, Saturday and Sunday 12pm-4pm
6 In-person class sessions that will meet weekly on the day and time of your class. Our classes are kept small to allow students to have more one on one time and step by step instruction from our teachers.
