Join us for a 6 week journey in creating characters and friends out of clay. Whether you are a newcomer to clay or a creative regular, this class will call upon your sense of imagination and whimsy.
In this class you’ll learn the basics of hand-building techniques, like pinching and coiling, as well as incorporate surface design techniques, in order to manifest your clay creations into the real world. In a world of AI created art, sit down for 2.5 hours to create a tangible friend. Meet with like-minded creatives that will guide your narratives and build upon your ideas. Will this friend guard the apartment, hold valuable treasures and secrets, be your next family heirloom? Come explore and invent your new buddy with us in class. So what are you waiting for? Your new friend is waiting!
The first class will meet on Friday, September 19th 6-8:30pm and the last class will meet on Friday, October 24th.
This class includes:
15 LBS of clay and the ability to purchase more
Firing of your pottery in our electric kilns
Glazes and decorating materials
Use of studio tools and equipment
A storage space to keep your work, personal tools and clay on
Access to Open Studio Hours Saturday and Sunday 12pm-4pm
Students will also be given our “artist phone number” to call in and see if they are able to get extra studio time outside of open studio hours.
6 In-person class sessions that will meet weekly on the day and time of your class. Our classes are kept small to allow students to have more one on one time and step by step instruction from our teachers.
Project possibilities: Friends of all shapes and sizes
