Session 7 - Thursday Night Porcelain 101

$395.00

In this six-week class, students will dive into the unique qualities and challenges of working with porcelain on the wheel. Through focused demonstrations and guided practice, you’ll refine your throwing technique, learn how to center and shape thinner walls, and explore the subtleties that make porcelain so distinct.

We’ll experiment with a range of surface treatments, including carving, slip application, and color additions with mason stains, and explore methods for creating textural effects with tools and sodium silicate. Projects will include a series of matching vessels designed to improve consistency and precision, as well as more ambitious forms like delicate, translucent lampshades that push your skills to the next level. We suggest that students have a solid understanding of wheel foundations and the ability to center at least 2 pounds of clay.

The first class will meet on Thursday, November 6th 6-8:30pm and the last class will meet on Thursday, December 18th.

***** There will a break for Thanksgiving November 23rd-30th. Classes will resume December 1st. *****
